Low-sugar fruit cups or applesauce are great non-perishable alternatives to fresh fruit. Apples and pears are particularly excellent sources of fiber, so they’re generally the most filling options, but any fruit that you like to eat will make a fine choice.
While some protein bars are actually higher in calories and sugar than an average candy bar, they are incredibly convenient as they will stay fresh in their packaging for months. They can still work as a healthy snack if you choose wisely: Avoid protein bars high in sugar and calories. Also, you’d be surprised how many products marketed as “protein bars” are actually very low in protein, so make sure you select a high-protein variety to help yourself feel full.
