How to Stay Energized All Day
Start by Sleeping Well
Having the energy to excel from morning to evening begins the night before with a great night of sleep. Turn off your gadgets an hour before it’s time to sleep, allow your body to decompress from the day, and go to bed in time to get the hours of rest necessary to feel rejuvenated for the next day.
Get up Early and Get Going
If you get to sleep at a reasonable hour, you’re going to put yourself in a better position to wake up early and start your day before stressors begin to pounce. The extra time you’ll have in the morning will allow you to use your time for more productive activities than those generally associated with late-night distractions.
Move Early, Move Often, and Get Some Sun
Now that you’re rested and alert, start your day on the right track by getting outside, letting the sunlight prepare you for the rest of your day with a dose of vitamin D. Breathe in some fresh air and allow your body to wake up with exercise, whether it be a brisk walk or long-distance run. Keep your body moving throughout the day will help you take in more oxygen and keep your blood flowing efficiently.
Stay on Track with a Healthy Diet
Nothing will get you off course faster than energy crashing flurries of junk food, processed carbohydrate-loaded meals, and sugar-infused juice or soda. Your body reacts to what you eat, so consider maintaining a healthy diet that includes plenty of protein, complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and a consistent intake of water to keep you hydrated.
Take a 10 Minute Power Nap
Not everyone can afford such a luxury, but if you’re able to take a short nap in the afternoon, you’ll feel better the rest of the day. Experts suggest that a 10-minute power nap can make you more alert and effective the rest of the day. If you’re not in a place where a nap is prudent, at least make sure to take intermittent breaks from staring at electronics and let your body refresh itself.
Rock Some Tunes
Remember you’re human with feelings and emotions that respond to outside stimuli. Find a playlist of music that gets you in the mood to make your days more productive. Similarly, you can reset your mind and body with a friendly conversation or another form of entertainment.
Rinse and Repeat
The most important step you will take to feel energized is when you decide to stick to a regular pattern of helpful behaviors. Anyone can have a slip-up, but if you determine to take action, you’ll provide the best opportunities to stay energized all day, every day.
